When I did my first interview for NBC’s TODAY show in November, I talked with correspondent Joe Fryer in New York City and the focus was on how I became “Christmas Karen” writing three Christmas movies and three Christmas novels in the last 18 months after writing the Netflix hit A Christmas Prince.

During that TODAY interview in November,  that you can watch HERE, I talked about how after writing my 2nd movie, Christmas Camp for Hallmark and my books Christmas Camp and Christmas Camp Wedding for HarperCollins Publishers, I believed in the Christmas Camp concept I’d created so much, and how I thought it could help people disconnect to reconnect with what truly matters most at Christmas, that I found a way to bring it to life, so everyone could go to an actual Christmas Camp for grownups!

The TODAY crew said they wanted to come to Christmas Camp and do another story that focused on the Christmas Camp I’d created.

Honestly, my number one focus was my Christmas Campers and making sure they were comfortable having a TV crew present so I talked to everyone ahead of time, explaining what would be happening and how the crew wouldn’t be getting in the way of anything that we were doing, but just filming what was happening.

When all my Christmas Campers were not only fine with having a TV crew, but excited about it, I agreed to allow just this crew, exclusively, to be present at my Christmas Camp.

So on my first day of Camp, where I had more than 100 Christmas Campers showing up, the TODAY crew also showed up at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona.

It’s an understatement saying I had a LOT going on at the same time, but everyone had a great time, including the TODAY crew that couldn’t have been more respectful of how they filmed and interacted with everyone.

Even on day one Christmas Campers started becoming like a family, meeting new friends, and relaxing and letting themselves embrace the Christmas spirit.

You could truly feel the genuine joy and happiness and for that I will always be thankful.

Everyone kept thanking me for writing the Christmas Camp movie and books and creating a real Christmas Camp, but I was thanking all of my Christmas Campers for coming and helping me bring it all to life.

Having the TODAY show be a part of my journey means I can share this story with even more people, and for that I am also truly grateful.
