Truly an honor to be part of the Taste of Waldorf event in NYC picking Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts next signature dish! A dish that will be added to the history books along with Waldorf creations Eggs Benedict, Waldorf Salad and Red Velvet Cake.

I love that Waldorf Astoria Master Chefs from Waldorf Resorts around the world are paired with  James Beard Rising Star Semi-finalists to create the dishes for the competition.

The winner, this  beauty, the Jing Roll, with Chinese Nappa Cabbage wrapped around Wagyu Beef with Black Mushrooms, Chinese Chili Peppers, Hoisin Sauce, Okra, Sweet Purple Potatoes and Local Salted Duck Eggs. Congratulations to Executive Chef at Waldorf Astoria Beijing, Master Chef Benoit Chargy and James Beard Foundation Star Chef Erik Bruner, for this delicious dish.

An added bonus, I got to talk to last year’s winner, one of my all-time favorite chefs, word-renowned 3-star Michelin Chef Heinz Beck. I first met Chef Beck when I was shooting a TV segment in Rome at Waldorf’s Rome Cavalari property and spent time with Chef Beck in his kitchen at La Pergola. If you’re ever in Rome don’t miss dining at La Pergola, it’s one of the top culinary experiences in Europe!
